Special to La Prensa: UHS Robert B. Green Campus invocation

By Dr. Roberto L. Jimenez | 20 de enero de 2013

San Antonio.- We will begin the invocation for this great occasion with a quote from an illustrious physician and professor of philosophy at Harvard at the closing of the 19th Century. Professor William James is considered to be the most original thinker our nation has produced. He founded the philosophical view of reality known as pragmatism that has shaped how we Americans view ourselves, others and world around us.

“We and God have business with each other; and in opening ourselves to his influence our deepest destiny is fulfilled.” - William James

It is right and just that we begin this morning by thanking our Lord for the many gifts we have received:

• Our Families

• Our Friends

• Our work

This beautiful building All his servants that worked so tirelessly to plan, design construct the magnificence edifice. All our leaders – The good people of Bexar County, Commissioners and County Judge, Board of Mangers, our CEO George Hernandez and his senior and junior managerial staff, our department heads – clinical, administrative, physical plant, frontline service providers and keepers of our physical plant and its grounds.

We ask your special blessings on healthcare providers: that you will continue to choose men and women for your service that care little about wealth, position or eloquence, but rather that they work in such humility that those who enter these walls thirsty for your waters of healing will be satisfied.

That they will be ministers of the healing arts, that they will allow you, Our Lord, to put your words on their lips and your healing power into their hands. We ask your special blessings on administrative and operational leaders and supervisors that they will always preserve and protect this temple of healing for your honor and glory.

Never allow any distinctions of nationality, rank or creed. Nor walls of partition that will divide us, and that your gifts of healing will be open to all of God’s family, as the air, the light, on the showers of rain that refresh the earth.

Amen
