New Braunfels, Texas.- As a general rule, people undergoing heart catheterizations in the United States do so with the procedure starting in the femoral artery found in the groin. However, the next time someone at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – New Braunfels (CSRH – NB) has a cardiac catheterization, they may be surprised to find that the pathway to the heart starts at the wrist (transradial access) and not the groin (transfemoral access). The transradial approach reduces the risk of complications, improves patient outcomes, and significantly improves the overall patient experience.
