Celebrating 176 years of Texas Independence

From the desk of Governor Rick Perry | 02 de marzo de 2012

While Texas Independence Day celebrates the anniversary of Texas declaring independence from Mexico, 176 years later it's also a chance to celebrate the bold streak of independence that's always been an important and unique part of our state's culture. La Prensa de San Antonio.- While Texas Independence Day celebrates the anniversary of Texas declaring independence from Mexico, 176 years later it's also a chance to celebrate the bold streak of independence that's always been an important and unique part of our state's culture. Our brand of fierce self-determination and pride makes Texans a special breed, and it's a big reason our state has always been a hotbed for innovators, entrepreneurs and others who want to try things their own way. Whether they're figuring out new ways to bring energy from the ground, steering humankind to the moon or pioneering a new treatment for cancer, you'll find Texans aggressively - some might say stubbornly - taking a chance on their own abilities and ideas.

Those sorts of bold initiatives undertaken in Texas have led to a better jobs, better lives and a better world for all of us.

So this Texas Independence Day, be sure to remember the brave individuals who put their name to the Texas Declaration of Independence at Washington-on-the-Brazos in March of 1836, as well as everyone who has lived their lives in that same revolutionary spirit in the many years since.
