Scholarship Application

Who May Apply.- Local graduating high school seniors,Local college students   

General Application Requirements Must attend school full time (except ACCD students). GPA must be 2.5 or higher (high grades are not essential for consideration).Should attend a college or university within the San Antonio area

Must have financial need or an extraneous circumstance

Preference given to those who are first generation in family to attend college or university.

Application should be turned in to La Prensa Foundation on the following deadlines:
Fall Semester: July 31
Spring Semester: November 30
Summer Classes: April 30

Students may also apply for La Prensa Foundation, Inc. Scholarship through the following institutions:
Alamo Community College District (SAC, PAC, SPC, NLC, NVC)
Award: $500 per semester for full time students or $250 per semester for part time students Must be enrolled in any of the four Alamo Community Colleges

Minimum 2.0 GPA

Must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hrs.) or part-time (6 credit hrs.)

Must demonstrate financial need as determined by FAFSA

Award: Two awards annually of $5,000

The University of Texas at San Antonio
Award: Five awards annually of $1,200 ($600 per semester) Must enroll in a minimum of 9 credit hours at UTSA

Must be resident of Bexar County

Incoming first-time freshmen must have graduated in the top 40 percent of their high school class and have a minimum SAT score of 860 or minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA

Must demonstrate financial need as determined by FAFSA

Awarded through Financial Aid Office

Application deadline: Feb. 15

Dispersed after students start class

La Prensa Foundation also sponsors the UTSA’s Henry Romo Memorial Endowed Scholarship. For more information on this scholarship, you may log on to the university’s website or stop by their financial aid office.
