Major pro wrestlers come to S.A. for holiday rumble

By Brandon Oliver | 02 de diciembre de 2012

San Antonio.- The holiday season is a time of giving and family togetherness, and few things in sports entertainment bring families closer together than the time-honored tradition of professional wrestling.

River City Wrestling (RCW)—billed as San Antonio's brand of professional wrestling, —presents its flagship event called "Texas Explosion VII" on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Activity Center, 1630 Goliad Road in San Antonio, TX. The event will begin at 8 p.m. and the doors open at 7:30 p.m.

The event features a bevy of outlandish modern-day warriors delivering their own season’s greetings to both spectators and opponents alike.

The main event is a spectacular Six-Man Tag Team Match— Chavo Guerrero Jr. and "The Super-Mex" Hernandez, currently co-holders of the Tag Team Championship in Total Non-stop Action (TNA), will team with "The Notorious 187" Homicide against the controversial team of RCW Champion "The Largeador" Michael Faith, Joey "Super Shot" Spector and his "Coach" Michael Patrick.

Hernandez and Chavo Jr. can been seen weekly on the nationally-televised “TNA Impact Wrestling,” which airs Thursdays at 7 p.m. CST on the cable channel Spike.

For Hernandez, this event on Dec. 8 is a reunion of sorts as he and Homicide comprised the team once known as “The Latin American Xchange,” a well-known unit and former TNA Tag Team Champions as well.

“It’s been three years since we (Homicide and Hernandez) last were together,” Hernandez said.  “I made my name internationally with LAX, so Homicide and I will be forever linked together.”  Hernandez— a native of Houston— also praised teaming with the legendary Chavo Jr.

“Chavo is a great person to team with— the knowledge, timing, and psychology he has in ring along with his ability to wrestle any style is a great thing to be blessed with in wrestling,”  Hernandez said.

Hernandez, Chavo Jr. and Homicide are enormously popular with Hispanic wrestling fans with many wrestling insiders tab these three grapplers as the top Latino wrestlers currently in any organization.

Hernandez and Chavo Jr. will be a key part of the TNA Pay-Per-View to take place in San Antonio in March. On the Thursday, November 29, edition of “TNA Impact Wrestling,” it was announced the Alamodome will house the major world-wide televised event.

“San Antonio wrestling fans are the absolute best fans to wrestle in front of. In my 14 years in wrestling, no other fans are as loud, rabid, and fanatical about their wrestling,” Hernandez said.  “For the TNA Pay-Per-View to be in San Antonio is going to be a tremendous feeling since this is pretty much where I started my career. The San Antonio fans can expect the same hard-hitting action they see on TV from TNA, but amped up to 110 percent since this is one of our biggest Pay-Per-Views of the year.”

The Dec. 8 RCW event has extra significance for Hernandez and his teammates. Their opponents—Faith, Spector and Patrick—are highly-critical of Hispanic wrestlers and fans.  Hernandez promises such a strong victory that it will silence his opponents once and for all.

Other matches include a rematch between lucha legend Skayde and Sicodelico Jr, plus wrestlers such as “El Mamacito” Ann Dromeda, Claudia Del Solis, “Brooklyn’s Finest” AJ Summers, Ryan Oshun and more in action.

Tickets are on sale now at rcwwrestling.com, ticketmaster.com or at the door when the doors open at 7:30 p.m. VIP packages are also available which include a “Meet n’ Greet” at intermission, a free hot dog, soda and color poster! For additional information, please call (210) 842-8398.
