Beirut, Oct 26 (EFE).- At least 24 people died on Sunday night in explosions and fighting on the southwestern outskirts of the northern Syrian city of Aleppo, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, or SOHR, on Monday.
Among the victims were 14 members of the National Defense Forces, a pro-government Syrian military group, killed in an explosion on the road leading to the village of al-Ramusa, southwest of Aleppo, where clashes with opposition forces took place.
The fighting also resulted in the deaths of 10 people who belonged to rebel factions.
The Syrian authorities managed to regain control of al-Ramusa village during these clashes.
Meanwhile, skirmishes between government forces and the Islamic State are continuing on the road linking the towns of Khanaser and Athariya, southern Aleppo, and near the military airport of Kueires, which is being held under siege by jihadists.

8 Afghans fighting with regime forces killed in central Syria
Beirut, Oct 26 (EFE).- At least eight Afghans, who were fighting in the ranks of the Syrian regime forces, died on Sunday at the hands of Uzbek militants, who are in combat alongside rebel factions in central Syria, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, or SOHR, on Monday.
Afghans were captured and executed in the central province of Hama during heavy clashes in the vicinity of al-Ghab Plain.
At least 11 pro-government fighters, 12 Uzbeks, including a commander, and four opposition fighters were also killed during the fighting.
Earlier this month the Syrian army, backed by Russian aircraft, began an offensive to free the country from "terrorists".
